About the Event

The Lost Plantation Charity Open is a unique charity DISC GOLF tournament that takes place annually on the Lost Plantation Golf Course! We use nine holes of the golf course to create an exciting 18-hole championship level disc golf course.

In 2019, during our inaugural event, we had 93 players from six states participate. Our event was covered by three media outlets (Effingham Herald, Spirit Newspaper, WJCL-TV).

In our first year, we raised $3,305 for CURE Childhood Cancer.

We’re thankful for the City of Rincon, the Lost Plantation Golf Club, the Rincon Recreation Department, the Savannah Disc Golf Association, Latitude 64, and CURE Childhood Cancer for all their support making this event happen! We have an exciting tournament planned!

Our event is being operated under the PDGA Competition Endowment Program (CEP). This guarantees that twenty five percent (25%) of all entry fees, plus all PDGA fees, will go directly to our charity, CURE Childhood Cancer.

Our Beneficary

CURE Childhood Cancer

Founded in 1975, CURE Childhood Cancer is dedicated to conquering childhood cancer through funding targeted research and through supporting patients and their families. Since its establishment as a grass-roots organization, CURE has focused its efforts on improving the care, quality of life, and survival rate of children with cancer. The founders, parents and a dedicated pediatric oncologist, joined forces to support laboratory research that would translate into immediate care for children with cancer.

Since that time, CURE has raised millions of dollars to fund cutting edge research at the Aflac Cancer Center Blood Disorders Service at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Emory University School of Medicine and other top pediatric cancer research institutions - focusing on projects which are likely to have a clinical or therapeutic impact within five years. Through innovative programming, CURE also provides support for patients and their families.

As you play your round, you will be introduced to 18 children impacted by cancer and CURE. Each hole of the course is named after a child. You will be able to see their faces and read their stories as you play. Please take a moment to learn about each one of these amazing kids and their families and remember that CURE has helped support each one of them.

Tournament Experience

What can players expect at the event?

Friday

The course will be open for practice rounds on Friday, May 29. You’re welcome to walk the course for free, but we’d highly recommend renting a cart from the clubhouse for $10. The course is lengthy, and there are a few places where the gap between holes is relatively long. Check-in for the tournament will also be open behind the clubhouse near the tee area for ball golf hole number 10. It should be pretty easy to find once you arrive.

Saturday and Sunday

Players starting on holes 1-4 and 14-18 will be required to walk to their starting holes. Players starting on holes 5-13 will be given carts to get to their starting holes. Designated cart parking areas will be provided on the course and on the map. Carts will be assigned by hole. Players finishing on these holes may bring the carts back to the clubhouse after the round.

Swag and Payouts

Thanks to our generous sponsors, each player will receive a t-shirt from Latitude 64 at check-in. Amateur players will also receive a custom-stamped Latitude 64 disc. All division winners will receive trophies. Pro players will receive a cash payout. Additional prizes will be awarded to our top finishers in each division.

Charity CTP

An optional Charity CTP (closest to the pin) competition is available to all player’s at registration or check-in. The winner will receive a special prize donated by one of our generous sponsors. You must buy-in to be eligible to win this prize. All Charity CTP money will be donated to CURE!

Charity Raffle

We have TONS of great raffle prizes available to everyone. All raffle ticket sales will go directly to CURE! You can buy tickets with cash, Paypal, or Venmo! The raffle will be held after the awards ceremony!

Silent Auction

We will have merchandise available to purchase via silent auction. To participate in the silent auction, place your bid on the bid sheet at tournament central. The highest bidders will be announced at the awards ceremony. Payments may be collected via cash, Paypal, or Venmo. All proceeds will be donated to CURE.

Ace Pool

All aces hit during the event (except for the Ace Challenge hole on round two) will be eligible for Ace Pool winnings. To win, players must buy-in to the Ace Pool at registration or at check-in. Winnings will be split between all players who hit an ace. If no ace is hit, this pool money will be donated to CURE.

Divisional CTPs

There will be multiple free CTP’s (closest to the pin) prizes available for all divisions during the event. You do NOT need to buy in to be eligible for these prizes. A full list of holes and eligible divisions will be in the player’s guide.

Grow Disc Golf $5K/$10K Ace Challenge

By popular demand, we're bringing back the Grow Disc Golf $5K/$10K Ace Challenge in 2020!

All players will receive automatic entry into our Ace Race Challenge presented by Grow Disc Golf! The challenge will take place on a 300 ft hole that is pretty much wide open and slightly downhill. You will be able to throw just about any kind of shot you want to get there. During round 2 of the event, if you hit an ace on this hole, you will win $5,000! If you hit the ace with a Trilogy brand disc (Dynamic Discs, Latitude 64, and Westside), the reward will be doubled to $10,000!!

All shots will be filmed from the tee pad, and players will need to state their name and disc to the camera before throwing their shot. In the case of multiple aces, the award will be split between the players. Full rules will be placed in the player’s guide at check-in.
